“Thinking Outside of the Box” Dictionary definition “think in an original or creative way.”

Keeping seniors active and engaged is our goal at Riverwood Square. Each day we try to incorporate activities that touch on mind, body and soul. Every month we produce a one-of-a-kind activity calendar that outlines all the programs that we offer. Of course, you will find the “traditional” senior activities like Bingo, but that is the exception not the norm! Our talented Directors of Health & Wellness put their creative hats on every month to come up with unique, fun and engaging activities. We are encouraged to “think outside of the box, no crazy idea is off the table, we will try anything!

We believe you are never too old to have fun, laugh at yourself or learn something new!

Move it or lose it is our motto!

Our themed photobooths are always a hit, Graduation Day, Valentine’s Day, Halloween and photos with Santa! Who doesn’t love to have a keepsake photo and something to share with family.

Nature themed events! Owls have been seen soaring across our theatre as we have welcomed a guest speaker from Discover Owls. Monarch Butterflies have been hatched in our lobby and have been released by residents into our gardens.

Our “Howloween” Doggie Fashion Show have residents smiling and laughing as dogs along with their owners modeled the latest Halloween costumes. And, because we can’t get enough of dogs, we also partner with local rescue Manitoba Underdogs. Each month, volunteer ambassadors and their furry companions visit residents for some puppy cuddles. The positive impact the dogs have on the residents is always remarkable and heartwarming.

Axe Throwing and Target Shooting – the competitive spirit still runs strong as residents compete in these types of activities, after all who doesn’t love to channel their inner William Tell.

Get ready to tap your toes, clink your glasses, and sing along to your favourite songs during our Friday Happy Hours, featuring a rotating lineup of incredible local talent.

“Ready to hit the road? Our Shuttle Bus takes residents on exciting local adventures! Join us for luncheon outings, festive trips to Folklorama, or a relaxing scenic boat tour through the city.”

Sound like fun, right?! Studies have shown that seniors’ who engage in regular activities like exercise, brain games, social activities lead to longer happier lives!
